BOGOR, September 10 (ChinaMil) -- The five-day-long anti-terrorism drill under the mechanism of the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) kicked off on September 9, 2013 at the Indonesian Peace and Security Center (IPSC). A total of 500-plus officers and men from 18 member states under the mechanism of the ADMM-Plus participated in the drill.
All the participating countries will focus on demonstrating their anti-terrorism policies and capability for performing operations in case of hypothetical terrorist attacks to tankers at sea and bombs to a large event.
The drill falls into indoor-deducing and actual-troop drill. The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) dispatched a detachment composed of 18 members from the PLA general headquarters/departments and the Jinan Military Area Command (MAC) to take part in the drill.
Established in 2010, the ADMM-Plus is a defense ministers’ meeting among the ten member states of the ASEAN, China, the United States, Russian, India, Japan, Republic of Korea (ROK), Australia and New Zealand, and it is the highest-level official multilateral security dialogue and cooperation mechanism on defense affairs in the Asia-Pacific region. It is committed to promoting pragmatic cooperation in non-traditional security fields.
The drill is the first-ever anti-terrorism one under the ADMM-Plus mechanism.
