Beijing, Nov.11 (People's Daily Online) --Taiwan's child adoption system is relatively loose, and it has led to worries that the system may promote child trafficking.
On Nov. 11, the “Legislative Yuan” of Taiwan will examine the amendment to the Child and Youth Welfare Act according to the procedures, and if it is approved, adoption in Taiwan will be strictly standardized.
"One child, 30 new Taiwan dollars"
In recent years, the number of childless families of Taiwan has been increasing, and many of them want to adopt children. However, the relevant laws of Taiwan are not strict, and therefore chaos exists in Taiwan's adoption system.
For example, under-the-table child adoptions are common in Taiwan. In such cases, the original family of the child and the adoptive parents negotiate privately and then go to the courts to finish the adoption procedures. The under-the-table method lacks professional guidance and criteria, and it leaves the door open for future civil disputes.
