MOSCOW, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- A Russian cargo spacecraft blasted off Wednesday at the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to the International Space Station (ISS), Russian space authorities said.

Live webcast showed that the Progress M-17M freighter, riding a Soyuz-U rocket, was launched at 11:41 Moscow time (0741 GMT).

It is scheduled to dock with the ISS six hours later at 17:40 Moscow time (1340 GMT) in an automatic mode, said Russian space agency Roscosmos.

The spaceship brought over 2.5 tons of supplies, including fuel, oxygen, water, clothes, food and various equipment for the ISS, said Roscosmos.
