Students fight for $5m US study cash

(Global Times)

14:15, November 14, 2012

A total of 150 Chinese students will be awarded a share in $5 million of scholarship cash if they pass an admission interview conducted by six American universities, reported the Beijing Evening News Sunday.

The first batch of candidates was interviewed Sunday morning. The six universities rank in the top 200 in the US, including St. John's University in New York and the University of Minnesota in Duluth.

"US universities feel it's necessary to interview students in person because so many Chinese [education] agencies forge students' documents," said an anonymous source from the Chinese Society of Education Training Centers.
