50 kg of drugs seized

(Global Times)

09:06, December 05, 2012

Shanghai Customs have seized more than 50 kilograms of illegal drugs in 32 smuggling cases so far this year. About 90 percent of the cases involved drugs that were mailed into the country via express delivery services.

In November, customs agents seized 5.6 kilograms of illegal drugs, including cocaine, in seven smuggling cases. The drugs were usually hidden inside other items such as toys, books and candles.

Customs officials said criminals seldom receive the packages directly and reminded residents not to take or forward packages on behalf of others.
