BEIJING, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- A strong cold front will send temperatures down across China and bring heavy snow to some regions from Wednesday, the meteorological authority said on Tuesday.

Temperatures will drop by four to eight degrees Celsius in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, central and western parts of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and northwestern regions on Wednesday and Thursday, the National Meteorological Center said.

Some of the regions will see temperature drops by 10 to 12 degrees Celsius, the center said.

In the period, moderate snow will fall in some parts of northwestern regions, Inner Mongolia, north China, regions along the Yellow and Huai rivers, and areas along the Yangtze and Han rivers, with some areas seeing heavy snow and sleet, the center said.

The center forecast active cold airflows in the next 10 days, saying that temperatures in most parts of the country will be one to two degrees Celsius lower than normal during the period.
