Beijing: 5 infected with H1N1, 3 dead last week

According to Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, in last week, 50 people were infected with H1N1 and 1 died in Beijing. The first two weeks of the new year saw 60,000 cases of patients with influenza, according to the city’s Center for Disease Prevention and Control.

1,600 people infected with flu
According to Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, three were killed by H1N1 this year, but in the same period last year, there were no such serious cases.

Monitoring data by Beijing’s Center for Disease Prevention and Control show that since last December the number of people with influenza has been increasing.

Data from medical institutions with Level Ⅱor higher show that 30,173 of the 810,934 patients were infected with flu, a little higher than 30,077 last week.

What is more, incidence of influenza-like illness last week is 3.72 percent, equaling to the highest data in the past two years. Research shows that H1N1 and H3N2 are prevalent in Beijing now, with H1N1 taking the lead.

2. Death cases appear

In the week to come, people are still exposed to the hazardous influenza virus. As a result, people in public places, such as schools, institutions, companies are more possible to get ill. But thanks to the holiday in Spring Festival, the serious situation may be not as bad as we have anticipated.

At the same time, risk to infect with severe diseases still remains high for people, especially children and the old.
