The Weishan Lake consists of four lakes connected to each other: Weishan, Zhaoyang, Dushan and Nanyang. The lake was formed by currents from crevasses in levees of the Yellow River in Ming dynasty. It is the largest freshwater lake in north China. The channel of the lake becomes the main channel of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The life rhythm in Weshan is very slow. As there are no roads connecting some fishing villages in the county with the outside world, boats serve as the main transportation vehicle here.
