Taiwan man missing in Beijing mountain

BEIJING, April 6 (Xinhua) -- A man from Taiwan remained missing Saturday, two days after he went to climb a mountain in the suburbs of Beijing, local police said.

Hundreds of people, including police, firefighters and professional rescuers, have joined in the search for the 60-year-old man surnamed Tung, an executive of a Taiwanese company's Beijing branch.

Police used sniffer dogs and helicopters in the search operation.

Tung, who lived in Haidian district, drove to the Wangping township of Mentougou district in western Beijing Thursday morning to climb a mountain there.

Police received the report of the missing case Thursday night after Tung could not be reached.

His car was found at about 3 a.m. Friday on a roadside in the township.

The search operation is still ongoing.
