H7N9 patient in Zhejiang discharged from hospital

HANGZHOU, April 19 (Xinhua) -- A 51-year-old woman in east China's Zhejiang Province who was infected with H7N9 bird flu was discharged from hospital on Friday morning, making her the province's first person to recover from the disease.

The woman, surnamed Jia, had fully recovered and was discharged at 11 a.m. from The First Affiliated Hospital of The College of Medicine, Zhejiang University, according to a statement issued by the hospital.

Jia was confirmed as infected with the new strain of avian influenza on April 9. She was hospitalized with symptoms of fever and recurrent coughing accompanied by hemoptysis.

As of Friday, 87 H7N9 cases have been reported across China, of which 17 have ended in death, according to the National Health and Family Planning Commission.
