City legislator and business leader falls to death in club elevator shaft

A local legislator and influential figure in city decoration industry is reported to have been killed after falling into an elevator shaft in a karaoke club Thursday evening in Jinshan District, according to xinmin.cn.

Police have confirmed that a man fell to his death about 11pm Thursday inside this club in suburban Jinshan District and ruled out foul play in the death but didn't reveal his identity.

Xinmin.cn reported that the victim, surnamed Huang, was a member of Shanghai People's Congress, the city's legislative body. He's also chairman of the board of a famous local decoration company and president of Shanghai Interior Decoration Trade Association.

He was reported to have had some drinks before the fall.
