SHANGHAI, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Six people were injured after a chemical plant explosion on Monday afternoon in east China's Shanghai Municipality, rescuers said.
The explosion happened at 2:15 p.m. at Shanghai Shengying Chemical Co., Ltd. in the Jinshan district of the municipality, causing a fire which was brought under control by 3:30 p.m., according to rescuers.
The six injured people have been sent to a local hospital.
Firefighters are still working at the scene.
An investigation in to the cause of the incident is underway.
