Controversial auditions for dating with Mr. Rich have triggered public concern recently. Even it bears public criticisms and blames, seeing a wealthy husband with an increasing zeal.
Rich bachelors take the opportunity of blind date and love hunting to flaunt themselves and to seek a wife; some beautiful young ladies of course were lured. Dating are more like business deals and it seems marriage seeking got a price tag today.
Marriage: I want to marry Mr. Rich
A high-end matchmaking company held the fifth round of audition for single women to meet rich bachelors in July, and 60 women who went through several founds of audition were selected from 60,000 contestants to date with 50 billionaire singleton in Maldives. “An emperor selecting his concubines out of a group of girls” may more properly describe the audition rather than we say it is to find a girl in a million.
Women contestants have to meet certain requirements including age, height, looks, and health and as some billionaires request, the lady he will be dating must be a virgin. Moreover, their background, jobs, living environment, and parents are also need to be checked.
Money: rich men to flaunt their considerable wealth
The founder of China Entrepreneur Club for Singles is 28-year-old Cheng Yong, whose service targets wealthy singleton that lack nothing but a bride. Male riches with a wealth of at least 100 million yuan or top leader of large-scale company and a positive social background are qualified to register with the company. The company claims they strictly check each member to prevent married riches from defrauding single ladies.
Moral: money can buy attention, but not happy marriage or true love
Rong Weiyi, an expert of gender study said: “Audition for dating rich men is no longer strange in recent years; it reflects the growing materialism in society, flaunting wealth and worship of money is damaging social customs.”
“Some parents take their daughters to the rich matchmaking, in other words, parents want to find a rich family for their girls,” said Zhou Xiaopeng, an expert with Baihe, a well-known matchmaking website in China. “Girls want to marry the rich, which means they refuse to grow up, they refuse to earn by their own, and they just want to have a ready-made wealth instead of struggle for it. A good marriage takes work. It is just like a garden which needs weeding, watering and fertilizing. It is hard but can bring about happiness and pride; buy a bouquet of flower only brings transient pleasure.” Zhou added that youth should get happy life by hard work, and marriage cannot be used as a springboard for getting money.
