BEIJING, July 18 (Xinhua) -- A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official on Wednesday said China is willing to enhance communication and work closely with the UN to promote cooperation in human resources development.
Li Yuanchao, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks in a meeting with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
During the meeting, Li, also head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, expressed thanks to the UN for its efforts dedicated to a training program, which has benefited over 510 Chinese officials since the program was initiated in 2005.
The program was in line with the reality of China's drive to build a well-off society and the needs of its officials, and has produced practical results, Li told Ban, who is in Beijing for an official visit from July 17-19.
While applauding the program for achieving positive results, Ban expressed the will to work further with China so as to jointly contribute to world peace and human progress.
Ban will attend the opening ceremony of the Fifth Ministerial Meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, which will open on Thursday.
