BEIJING, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Natural resources and agricultural production are highly complementary fields in Sino-Canadian economic cooperation, according to a study which the two countries jointly concluded on Wednesday.
China and Canada also have advantages in joint exploration of market opportunities in third-party countries, they found.
They should further promote cooperation in trade and investment under the framework of the bilateral mechanism for future common prosperity, according to the study.
The research, initiated by authorities in both countries in 2011, covered seven industries including agriculture, clean technologies, mechanical equipment, natural resources, services, transportation and textiles.
China has become Canada's second-largest trade partner and Canada ranks 13th on the list of China's trade partners. By the end of 2011, China's investment in Canada stood at 10.7 billion U.S. dollars and Canada's direct investment in China was about 8.3 billion U.S. dollars, figures from the Ministry of Commerce show.
