China was firmly opposed to bringing the Diaoyu Islands into the Japan-U.S. Security Treaty, without any room for negotiation. Recently, deputy chief of the general staff with the Chinese People's Liberation Army Cai Yingting again sent the signal to the world when he visited the United States.
Some U.S. politicians had emphasized more than once that the Japan-U.S. Security Treaty applies to the Diaoyu Islands, which is tantamount to adding fuel to the flames. It will encourage Japan to take the risk of disturbing the peace and stability of the East Asia.
China has made it clear that it was resolutely opposed to the irresponsible attitude and practice of the United States. China has a consistent attitude toward not only the Diaoyu Islands issue but also the issues concerning its sovereignty, security and core interests including the U.S. arms sales to Taiwan.
