How to add ‘positive energy’ to China-US relations

There have been many bumps in the relations between China and the United States this year, especially when Hillary Clinton criticized China by insinuation when visiting China’s neighbors in July and Africa in August. The frequent territorial disputes in East Asia in recent years are also considered a result of prvocation by the United States.

Comfortingly, the information revealed by both sides during Clinton's visit to China told us that it is still their common view to promote the building of mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win bilateral relations and explore a new type of relations between big powers.

When being asked whether the United States' return to the Asia-Pacific region is intended to contain China on the China-U.S. foreign ministers' conference, Clinton said that the United States welcomes a strong, stable and prosperous China which can play a role in the international affairs and maintaining and shaping the global order.

Although the United States has announced a high-profile return, the China-U.S. relations did not change in its internal structure of both competing and cooperating, said Jin Canrong, vice president of the School of International Studies of China’s Renmin University.
