Days ago, U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said on the Korea-United States Security Consultative Meeting that they were proceeding and discussing about the deployment of the missile defense system with the South Korea.
Not long ago, the U.S. Defense Chief also said that they would put the second early-warning radar in southern Japan. The United States is also said to be planning for the same radar in Southeast Asia.
However, what any further could it be? And is security of Asia the real purpose?
Steven Hildreth, a missile-defense expert with the U.S. Congressional Research Service said that in the long run the missile defense targets China in fact, although seemingly to be against the DPRK.
This reminds us of the U.S. deployment of the anti-missile system in Europe. The United States said that its development of the antimissile system in Europe was to cope with the threat from Iran rather than the Russia. But, Russia insisted on working in the same team together with the United States, or having the United States make a commitment of its non-action to Russia in a legal form. As for the result, it is known throughout the world.
