CAIRO, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese special envoy to the Middle East Wu Sike held talks on Monday with Arab League (AL) Secretary- General Nabil al-Arabi on the ongoing Syrian conflict and the stalled Middle East peace process between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

"China is very concerned about what is happening in Syria," Wu told reporters after the meeting, urging all concerned parties to exert efforts for the success of the intended U.S.-Russian- sponsored international peace conference in Geneva on the Syrian crisis.

Wu also invited the influential regional and international states to adopt "a positive position" to put an end to the armed conflict and the bloodshed in Syria.

The Chinese special envoy also stressed China's keenness on continuous coordination with the pan-Arab body to end the conflict in Syria.

With regards to the Middle East peace process, Wu detailed Arabi with the results of the recent meeting of China's President Xi Jinping with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Xi's four- point recommendation to resolve the issue and help establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders.

Wu described the new Chinese leadership's support for the Palestinian cause as "resolute and unshakable," adding that "China always support the Palestinian and the Arab peoples."

Wu further highlighted the significance of enhancing cooperation between China and the AL, referring to the China-Arab Cooperation Forum that has recently been held in Beijing.

Wu's visit to the AL came amid his regional tour in the Middle East including Jordan, Egypt and the pan-Arab organization.

In his recent visit to Jordan, the Chinese special envoy said that China rejects the EU decision to end embargo on providing arms to the Syrian rebels, which allows European countries to provide weapons to the Syrian anti-government fighters.
