He made the comments in an hour-long press conference in Embassy of Israel in Beijing on Tuesday.

Kandel, leading an Israeli delegation, introduced their Chinese trip starting from August 28, citing positive feedbacks from Chinese sides and describing it very "successful".

He said there are three goals of his visit to China. One is to bring the message from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel's government, confirming and restating the relationship with China is strategic priority for Israel.

Kandel said both sides have set strong foundation for the working relationship and will carry out cooperation in the areas including high technology, agriculture and clean tech.

"We agreed on two important principles. One is we have to be innovative in our thinking as government in order to foster innovation and innovative connections between Chinese and Israeli companies, organizations, universities, and research centers.

"The second is that rather than doing project-by-project we did before, we are now going to plan a long-term relationship which will commit in the areas where we can develop a strong common interests over a prolonged period", said Kandel.

Kandel, the current head of the National Economic Council at the Prime Minister's Office, was nominated by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to lead the Israeli side of the taskforce. He visited Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Beijing from August 28 to September 3. Beijing is the final leg of his visit.
