BEIJING, Sept. 23 -- China's top political advisor, Yu Zhengsheng, met visiting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro here on Monday.
Yu hailed the bilateral relationship between China and Venezuela, highlighting their frequent high-level interactions, mutually complementary economy, support for each other in international affairs and deep-rooted friendship.
The Chinese side will continue to view ties with Venezuela from a strategic perspective and work together with the Venezuelan side to implement the consensus between the leaders of the two countries to advance the friendly relationship in a sustained and in-depth way, according to Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
The CPPCC stands ready to increase exchanges with the Venezuelan side to play an active role in promoting the bilateral relationship, he said.
Maduro said the Venezuelan side will keep expanding reciprocal cooperation with China to cement the strategic partnership for common development between the two countries.
Maduro arrived in Beijing on Saturday for a four-day state visit to China. It is his first state visit to China since taking office in April.
