BEIJING, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese publicity official on Friday pledged to enhance relations with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) as he met with a delegation from a DPRK newspaper.

"It's an unswerving principle of the Chinese Party and government to constantly consolidate and develop friendly cooperative relations with the DPRK," said Liu Qibao, head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

The delegation from Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the DPRK Worker's Party, was invited by its Chinese counterpart, the People's Daily.

Liu urged the two newspapers to expand exchange and enrich cooperation so as to contribute to the development of China-DPRK relations.

Kim Won Sok, deputy editor-in-chief of Rodong Sinmun, said the DPRK treasures the traditional friendship with China. He hailed China's development achievements and pledged further efforts for promoting bilateral ties.
