BEIJING, Dec. 6 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Beijing on Friday with Kang Chang-hee, speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea (ROK).

Xi commended the sound development of China-ROK relations. He recalled his meetings with ROK President Park Geun-hye this year, which he said had outlined the direction of the development of bilateral ties.

"China is satisfied with the constant enrichment and development of the bilateral strategic cooperative partnership," he said.

He briefed Park on China's decision to comprehensively deepen reform, which was made at the Third Plenary Session of the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee in November.

He said China's further reform and opening up will provide broader prospects for bilateral cooperation.

Xi hoped the two sides would maintain high-level exchanges, enhance strategic communication and mutual trust, and link bilateral ties with their respective development strategies so as to benefit both countries as well as their people.

Xi said legislative exchanges are an important part of bilateral relations and are of significance to mutual understanding between politicians and the people of the two sides.

China is ready to work with the ROK on legislative exchanges to make contributions in bilateral relations, he said.

Kang congratulated the Chinese side on the success of the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee and said he believes that the Chinese dream of reviving the nation will be realized through further reform.

He said the ROK National Assembly is willing to make contributions for promoting bilateral friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation.
