China's top legislator meets Thai Princess

BEIJING, Dec. 10 -- Chinese top legislator Zhang Dejiang met in Beijing on Tuesday with Thai Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol who is here to attend the sixth youth musical evening between China and Thailand.

Zhang, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, hailed the efforts by the Thai royal family to develope the two countries' relations and he wished success for the musical evening.

The two sides have maintained sound development of bilateral ties since they were established 38 years ago, Zhang said, adding that the two sides need to further promote traditional friendship, enhance cultural exchanges and pragmatic cooperation, consolidate public opinion foundation for bilateral ties.

Chulabhorn Mahidol voiced hope for cultural exchanges between the two sides and played Gu Zheng, a traditional Chinese musical instrument, during the meeting.
