Readers offer suggestions to PD Online

Readers of People's Daily Online English service offered suggestions as to content, functions and page layout, etc, to editors at a symposium today.

Some have suggested the editors to come up with more characteristic and authoritative contents for the readers around the world.


Natalie Thomas, a journalism student from Beijing Foreign Studies University voices her suggestions on the development of the English Service of People's Daily Online on Sept. 10.
"As a site built by People's Daily, the site needs more characteristic contents which distinguish itself from other websites in China. You should publish more commentaries and explanations to China's policies and, since it is the authority voice of China," said Huang Yuan, a student with the University of Communications in Beijing.

A few readers have mentioned the improvement of the interactive features. Oscar, a Swedish student studying in China said: "I enjoy reading the comments made by the readers. I like them more than the news. So it will be better for the comments to be shown directly under the news."

The reader's symposium is aimed at collecting more readers' feedback and advice to help make the site more user-friendly.
