From mid-January to early February of this year, the southern regions of China suffered four successive attacks of low-temperature rain and freezing snow, registering as the extreme weather of the last 50 years, and of the last 100 years for regions such as Guizhou and Hunan.

During the disaster, all sectors of society came together to help one another and support each other, which has left many stories touching the online readers from home and abroad. They left their massages to send their gratefulness to those contributors and said that they would make the Spring Festival more unforgettable.

The following messages are some that left on People's Daily Online on Feb. 15, 2008.

――Recently, I paid great attention to the raging snow disaster in south China. The Spring Festival should be a merry moment, but I could not help shedding tears on hearing the numerous heart-warming news stories.

――You cannot see a rainbow without first weathering a storm. The Spring Festival of 2008 will be a most unforgettable one. I hereby pay sincere respect to those who silently worked at the scene. It is your persistence that will bring a warm and peaceful Spring Festival to more people.

――Whenever disasters are wreaking havoc and people's lives and property are in danger, the PLA staff, these most compassionate people, always stand out in offering support and are ready to sacrifice their lives. I am deeply moved again by them at the impending arrival of the Spring Festival.

――This Spring Festival will be filled with heart-warming stories. We take electricity consumption for granted in normal times, but the snow disaster indicated the importance of electricity for us and of the arduous efforts the staff of electric companies made.
