Jia Chunwang



Born in May 1938, native of Beijing; joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in September 1962; started to work in August 1964; graduated from the Engineering Physics Department of Tsinghua University in 1964; top-grade chief procurator.

Studied in the Engineering Physics Department of Tsinghua University, majoring in experimental nuclear physics in 1958-64; teacher of the Department and concurrently division deputy chief of the CYLC (Communist Youth League of China) Committee of Tsinghua in 1964-66; sent to grassroots units for manual labor in 1966-72 during the "Cultural Revolution"; teacher, office director, political division deputy director and Standing Committee member of the Department's CPC Committee in 1972-78; head of the Students' Work Department of Tsinghua; secretary of Tsinghua's CYLC Committee; Standing Committee member of Tsinghua's CPC Committee in 1978-82.

Standing Committee member of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and concurrently first deputy secretary, secretary of the CYLC Beijing Municipal Committee in 1982-83; Standing Committee member of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and concurrently secretary of the CPC Haidian District Committee in 1983-84; deputy secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and concurrently secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection in 1984-85.

Minister of state security, secretary of the ministry's Leading Party Members' Group and secretary of the ministry's CPC Committee in 1985-98; minister of public security, secretary of the ministry's CPC Committee, first political commissar and first secretary of the CPC Committee of the Chinese People's Armed Police Force in 1998-2002.

Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group, deputy procurator-general and member of the Procuratorial Committee of the Supreme People's Procuratorate since 2002.

Procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate since March 2003.

Member of the 12th to 16th CPC Central Committee.
