Former Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing
Li Zhaoxing, born in east China's Shandong Province in October 1940, graduated from Beijing University in 1964. 1964-1967 Post graduate student at Beijing Institute of Foreign Languages. 1967-1968 Staff Member of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs. 1968-1970 Worked in cadres' schools in Lishi, Shanxi Province and Shanggao, Jiangxi Province and then Niutianyang Farm, Shantou, Guangzhou Military Area Command. 1970-1977 Staff Member and Attache of the Chinese Embassy in Kenya. 1977-1983 Third Secretary, Second Secretary and Deputy Division Chief of the Information Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 1983-1985 First Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in the Kingdom of Lesotho. 1985-1990 Deputy Director General and Director General of the Information Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Spokesman of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 1990-1993, Assistant minister of Foreign Affairs. 1993-1995, Representative of Chinese Mission and ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to UN. 1995-1998, Vice minister of Foreign Affairs. 1998-2001, Served as Chinese ambassador to the United States 2001-2003, Vice minister of Foreign Affairs. 2003- April, 2007, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
