Wang Guangying



Wang Guangying (1919- ), native of Beijing.

Vice chairman of 9th NPC Standing Committee; honorary chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC); president of China Council for Promotion of Peaceful Reunification; honorary chairman of China Overseas Friendship Association.

Wang was born into an industrialist's family in Beijing in 1919. His father is Wang Huaiqing. Wang Guangying is the sixth of the 11 childrren in the family.

Wang graduated from the Chemistry Department of Catholic (Fu Jen) University in 1942 and founded the Modern Chemical Factory with others in Tianjin the following year. His factory was famous for its policy of high product quality and small profit with quick turnover.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, Wang launched the Lisheng Knitwear Factory in Tianjin, and in 1956 became manager of the Tianjin Knit Goods Manufacturing Company. He later served as secretary general and chairman of the Tianjin Municipal Federation of Industry and Commerce; executive member and Standing Committee member of ACFIC.

In July 1980, Wang was elected vice mayor in charge of commerce and market of Tianjin, one of the three municipalities directly under the Central Government.

Was deputy to First, Second, and Third NPC, vice-chairman of Eighth NPC Standing Committee, member of Fifth CPPCC National Committee, and vice-chairman of Sixth and Seventh CPPCC National Committees.
