A reference to a series of military operations conducted by the 386th Brigade of the Eighth Route Army's 129th Division involving the ambush of Japanese troops in the area of Qigencun, Huangyadi and Guangyang, south of Niangziguan, from late October to early November, 1937. In late October 1937 two Japanese divisions advanced westwards along the Zhengding-Taiyuan Railway, attempting to join Japanese troops along the Datong-Puzhou Railway for an attack on Taiyuan. A unit of the 386th Brigade laid an ambush at Qigencun on October 26 and 28, and attacked the baggage convoy of the Japanese 20th Division, wiping out more than 400 enemy troops. They then ambushed a regiment of the Japanese 109th Division at Huangyadi, on November 2, wiping out more than 300 enemy troops. The 115th Division of the Eighth Army annihilated nearly 1,000 Japanese troops in an ambush in the Guangyang area. After that the 386th Brigade, supported by the 769th Regiment, laid an ambush in an area east of Guangyang on November 7, putting more than 250 enemy troops out of action.
