The Baigui-Jincheng Campaign was fought in early May 1940 by the troops of the Eighth Route Army's 129th Division, with the support of the people in the base areas, to destroy the Baigui-Jincheng Railway, of which the Japanese aggressors had been trying to complete construction hastily. They destroyed more than 50 kilometers of the railway, demolished more than 50 bridges of various and annihilated over 350 enemy troops, thwarting the enemy's plan to complete building of the railway and break up the base areas.
