He Long (1896-1969), a native of Sangzhi, Hunan Province, was then member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, Vice-Chairman of its Military Commission and Vice-Premier of the State Council. He was hounded to death by the Lin Biao and Jiang Qing counter-revolutionary cliques during the ``cultural revolution''. The Central Committee decided in September 1974 to posthumously restore his good name. His complete rehabilitation was announced in October 1982.
