Bo Yibo (1908- ), a native of Dingxiang County, Shanxi Province, joined the Communist Party of China in 1925. He was a member of the Seventh, Eighth and Eleventh Central Committees and an alternate member of the Political Bureau of the Eighth. He held such posts as Chairman of the State Construction Commission, Chairman of the State Economic Commission and Vice-Premier of the State Council. In September 1982, at the Twelfth National Party Congress, he was elected to the Central Advisory Commission, and at the First Plenary Session of that body he became its Vice-Chairman.
