General Douglas MacArthur (1880-1964), an American career soldier, was the Commander-in-Chief of the Allied occupational forces in Japan from 1945 to 1951. In June 1950 he became Commander-in-Chief of the United Nations Forces in the War of Aggression Against Korea. He was dismissed in April 1951.
