Liu Binyan (1925- ), a native of Changchun, Jilin Province, joined the Communist Party in 1944. He was a journalist with People's Daily and Vice-Chairman of the Chinese Writers' Association. In January 1987, because he preached bourgeois liberalization and opposed the Four Cardinal Principles, he was expelled from the Party.
