Manchukuo was a puppet regime established by the Japanese imperialists in Changchun (Jilin Province) in March 1932. Pu Yi, the last emperor of China, was installed as chief executive. In March 1934 Manchukuo became known as the Manchukuo Empire, and Pu Yi became Emperor. The regime was brought down in August 1945 with the Chinese victory over Japan.
