The 9th Peacock-Prize Minorities Vocal Music Contest Result Announced

The 9th Peacock-Prize Minorities Vocal Music Contest, sponsored jointly by the Ministry of Culture, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the State Bureau of Radio, Film and Television and the people's government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was announced on November 14 in Nanning, capital of the Guangxi Autonomous Region.

Chao Lu, a singer from the Inner Mongolian Troupe, Mo Xiaowen, a Zhuang singer from Nanning Normal School and Jin Yong, a Korean Nationality singer from the Song and Dance Theater of Jilin Province won the first prize.

The Peacock Prize, the highest governmental prize for China's minorities' arts, was specially set for the creation and performance of minorities' culture.

The Peacock Prize Minorities Vocal Music Contest is said to be held biennially in the future. Guangxi will continue to host the next event.
