World People's Daily Delegation Visits Kenya and South Africa

At the invitation of Kenyan Times and South Africa Independent News Media, the People's Daily delegation headed by Shao Huaze, President of the People's Daily, paid good-will visits to Kenya and South Africa from November 19 to 28.

The delegation conducted in-depth discussions with its counterparts on issues of common concern and reached common understanding on further strengthening bilateral exchange of news.

During the visit, Shao Huaze held pleasant talks respectively with the leaders of Kenyan Times and South Africa Independent News Media, the largest newspaper in Kenya and the biggest news group in South Africa. Both sides exchanged views on such questions as the role of the news media to social change and how to meet the challenge posed by Internet, and reached the consensus that strengthening bilateral news exchange and cooperation is of great importance to promoting Sino-Kenya and Sino-South Africa friendship and mutual understanding of their peoples.

The delegation also visited some factories, mines, rural areas, schools and some other cultural facilities in Kenya and South Africa.
