China Chinese, Nepalese Military Leaders Confer in Beijing

Fu Quanyou, chief of the general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, hailed the friendly relations between China and Nepal during talks with Nepal's army chief Prajwal Shumshere Jung Bahadur Rana on December 8.

Fu, also a member of the Central Military Commission, said that the two peoples have been treating each other as equals and sincerely cooperating and supporting each other since the two countries forged diplomatic ties over 40 years ago.

The two countries have had fruitful cooperation in the realms of politics, the economy, and culture, he noted.

He said that China maintains that all nations, large or small, rich or poor, strong or weak, should be equal members of the international community, adding that China strongly opposes the bullying of the weak by the powerful.

He noted that China is strongly opposed to any interference in any nation's sovereignty and internal affairs by outside forces, and is willing to maintain and develop good-neighborly and friendly relations with its neighbors on the basis of the five principles of peaceful co-existence.

Rana said that Nepal hopes to further the relationship between the two countries and the two armed forces. He invited Fu to visit Nepal at an appropriate time, which Fu accepted with pleasure.
