Sci-Tech China Helps Farmers Acquire Agricultural Science and Technology

A symposium was held in Beijing on December 10 in Beijing to promote the link between agricultural scientists and farmers, and spread advanced agricultural technologies among production bases.

China will further support the development of associations for agricultural technology and encourage scientists to teach farmers new technologies to increase their income, said Zhang Yutai, vice president of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) at the symposium.

According to CAST statistics, the number of associations for agricultural technologies in China exceeds 115,600, and 6.2 million rural households have taken part in these associations, accounting for 2.5 percent of China's 240 million rural households.

The associations have spread more than 30,000 items of advanced agricultural technology among farmers in the past two decades, and at least 34 million farmers have participated in training class held by the associations.
