Sci-Tech South China Builds Lab on Urban Information

A lab on urban information has been set up recently in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province.

The new lab is jointly set up by the State Lab on Resources andEnvironmental Information under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Guangzhou Urban Information Institute.

The lab is expected to play a role in building a bridge between high-tech research and industrial development, getting experience in operating high-tech industries or labs. It is also expected to contribute to digitizing China's urban development.

Meanwhile, a seminar on digital urban development was held. A number of specialists, including CAS academicians, delivered speeches dealing with topics including urbanization and urban information, human resources in the information age, and digital geography and sustainable development.
