Sports Jiangsu Dragons Trounce Hubei Mei'erya

Hu Weidong scored 47 points to lead Jiangsu Dragons overpower Hubei Mei'erya 120-76 in a 19th round match of the Chinese Basketball League in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, on Sunday.

Hu, the Most Valuable Player of the league in the 1996-97 season, scored 7 three-pointers and added 8 steals, smashing Mei'erya's hope to collect their second victory of the season.

Dragons showed their power all through the game while they led at half time 77-35. Having achieved their first victory of this season on Wednesday, Hubei Mei'erya seemed to use up their strength in that game.

At Bayi, Wang Zhizhi contributed 30 points to help Bayi Rockets pass Shandong Bulls 115-100 and enlarge its advantage on the standings to 5 points.

In other games on January 23, Shanghai Sharks beat Vanguard Aoshen 83-78, Beijing Ducks breezed past Guangdong Hongyuan 97-89, Zhejiang Cyclone lost to Liaoning Hunters 95-102, Jilin Tigers beat Nanjing Army 109-86. (Xinhua)
