Tourism Augurs Fine in Beijing

Though the Spring Festival days have just gone by yet Beijing has been brought with them good tidings to augur a happy look of tourism in the city. During the first month of the year 2000, Beijing has received over 115,000 tourists to register growth of 14.4 percent, chalking it up as another peak record in the history of tourism of Beijing.

Of these, an increased number of foreign tourists have been found from abroad due to an economic recovery and a rising economy that has been generally developed in Asia. Foreign tourists to China are reported to have achieved a 52 percent growth over the same period of last year. In keeping up with an accelerated pace of China's return to the WTO and a strengthening of people's confidence in the country's economic development more and more foreign merchants have come to China on a business trip.
