Macao SAR Govt to Present Development Plan in Fall

The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government will put forward a medium- and long-term plan for local social and economic development in fall this year, Tuesday's Macao Daily News quoted Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah as saying.

The plan will be part of the government report for the year 2001 which is expected to be delivered by the chief executive of the Macao SAR in September or October this year. The chief executive said that since the founding of the Macao SAR nearly two months ago, the administration has been operating well and some issues have been handled in a timely and improved manner.

"However, the solutions to some problems need in-depth studies and more efforts," he said, explaining that the Macao SAR was established at the end of 1999 and a government report with thorough preparations can only be worked out later this year.

Considering Macao's history and current circumstances, the overall policy of the SAR government in the coming years will be based on the principle of steady development, the chief executive said.
