Northeastern China City to Hold Trade Fair

The city of Changchun, capital of Jilin Province in northeast China, will hold a trade fair later this year in an effort to attract more overseas investment.

The city will also hold a series of business promotion activities this year in North America and Europe, as well as in China's more developed southern coastal provinces and Hong Kong and Macao, according to a local official.

The official said the city is expected to introduce a total foreign investment of 363 million U.S. dollars and a total domestic funds of 7.82 billion yuan this year, up 10 percent and 15 percent over 1999, respectively.

Last year, the city actually used 331 million dollars of foreign investment and 6.8 billion yuan of domestic investment.
