Yellow Emperor's Tomb Fund Attracts Over 6 Million Dollars

Donations from home and abroad for the renovation of the Mausoleum of Huangdi (the Yellow Emperor), the legendary founder of the Chinese nation, have reached 51.2 million yuan (about 6.2 million U.S. dollars).

According to the Fund for the Mausoleum of Huangdi, donations have been very active since the fund was established in 1992, the same year renovation of the mausoleum began.

Shaanxi Province in northwest China started the renovation as more and more overseas Chinese began returning to China to pay respect to Huangdi.

With the support of the government and society, the first phase of the renovation project has been completed and the second is now underway.

The total cost for the two-phase project is expected to be about 200 million yuan (24 million U.S. dollars).

There will be a grand public ceremony outside the mausoleum on the occasion of the Qingming (Pure Brightness) Festival, the traditional Chinese day for mourning the dead.
