Computer Grade Security Protection Introduced in China

To protect China's computer information transmission network and strike virus attack, harmful information propagation and the like online criminal activities by hackers, concerned state security departments in the country saw to it that "Standards for Computer Information Network Grade Security Protection" were promulgated and took effect since January 1, 2001. With these there have been brought onto the right track China's computer information network grade security protection at different levels.

In line with stipulations set by the "Standards", security protection for China's computer information network is specifically graded into: users protection class, network auditing protection class, security mark protection class, structure protection class, visiting test protection class. Computer users can define their corresponding protection level according to their own computer information system, and perfect the computer system to its corresponding level.

Officials of the Ministry of Public Security said that public security departments will strengthen its management and supervision over the country's computer information security protection at various levels following the "Standards" set.
