B2B E-commerce: A Reality in China

An Internet company in Beijing Tuesday said it is facilitating business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce in China and the world with its leading e-marketplace platform, while some insiders are still questioning B2B's feasibility, China Daily reports.

Edward Zeng, president and chief executive officer of the Sparkice.com Inc, said that by bridging the commodities suppliers in Asia and buyers in Europe and America, Sparkice is cementing its role as a dominant B2B solution provider.

Zeng, speaking at the World Economic Forum's "China Business Summit 2000," said B2B e-commerce is not something still under discussion, it is already a reality in China.

On Monday, Sparkice introduced the country's first one-source electronic commerce solution based on international standards, and entered into strategic partnerships and alliance with Bank of China, China Ocean Shipping Corp and Metro AG - the world's third largest retailer - and other importers and exporters.

Dr Hans Joachim Korber, CEO of Metro AG, said working with Sparkice.com is helping the company increase its efficiency and profitability using e-solutions.

Metro signed a deal with Sparkice on Sunday, allowing the Chinese firm to become the European company's strategic e-commerce procurement partner for Asia.

"Sparkice's One Source Trading Service has put the domestic and foreign market only a few mouse clicks away from goods suppliers in China and buyers worldwide," Edward said.
