Guilin Ready for Coming Tourism Peak

China's well-known scenic city of Guilin in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has got ready for the tourism peak during the week-long May Day holiday, an official of the local tourism administration said on Sunday.

Almost all the guest rooms in local hotels were booked days before the holiday, the official said, adding that the city is expected to host 100,000 domestic and overseas visitors in the May 1-7 holiday.

According to the official, the local aviation department plans to add 30 chartered flights, mainly for visitors from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong.

Best known for its natural scenery, clear water and strange- shaped stone formations, Guilin hosted 10 million domestic and overseas tourists last year, more than 600,000 from overseas, and raked in 3.66 billion yuan (about US$441 million) in tourism revenue, a record high.
