China Begins Building Cyber Cities

Chinese scientists have solved the key technological problems and are now re-building the country's cities on the Internet.

Calling these Net cities cyber cities, scientists define them as imaged space where all sorts of city information is saved at certain website.

"We are now able to do quick three dimensional city model building and other key works needed to create a cyber city," said Li Deren, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering at a forum Wednesday.

"Through this technology we can 'move' Shanghai to the Internet for visitors to tour just as they would the real streets of Shanghai," he said.

According to Li, this technology has already been applied to building the cyber cities of Shanghai and Shenzhen.
